The Alexandria-Monroe Tigers will challenge the Shenandoah Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Alexandria-Monroe comes in on ten and Shenandoah on three.
Alexandria-Monroe had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Blackford on Wednesday. The Tigers blew past the Bruins 13-3. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by ten runs or more this season.
Brynlee Humphries made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Riley Thomas and Daisy Bivens did most of the damage at the plate: Thomas went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Bivens went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Thomas has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Brees, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Alexandria-Monroe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, while Shenandoah put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Randolph Southern. The Raiders put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 18-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won seven contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Alexandria-Monroe, Shenandoah also got a great game from a two-way player: Olivia Hinesley. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hinesley was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Tarran Mills was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Alyssa Toffolo also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Alexandria-Monroe's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 10.7 runs thus far. As for Shenandoah, their record is now 9-2.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alexandria-Monroe hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .475. However, it's not like Shenandoah struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alexandria-Monroe might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Shenandoah when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
