Preview: Cape Hatteras Hurricanes vs. Manteo Redskins

Cape Hatteras is 0-10 against Manteo since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Cape Hatteras Hurricanes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Manteo Redskins at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Cape Hatteras can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They breezed by Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech at home to the tune of 66-32. The victory was just what Cape Hatteras needed coming off of a 70-24 loss in their prior contest.

Samuel Jenkins and Griffin Couch were among the main playmakers for Cape Hatteras as the former scored 11 points along with 6 steals and the latter scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds. The contest was Couch's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Trae Wyatt, who scored 7 points.

Meanwhile, Manteo earned a 64-57 win over Columbia on Tuesday. With that win, Manteo brought their scoring average up to 53.3 points per game.

Taylor Granitzki went supernova for Manteo, dropping a double-double on 35 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Granitzki has scored at least 25% of Manteo's points. Zay Williams was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals.

The losses dropped Cape Hatteras to 2-4 and Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech to 0-8.

Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's matchup: Cape Hatteras have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 35.3% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Manteo, though, as they've only made 12.7% of theirs this season. Given Cape Hatteras' sizeable advantage in that area, Manteo will need to find a way to close that gap. Cape Hatteras couldn't quite finish off Manteo when the teams last played last Wednesday and fell 45-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Manteo's Williams, who scored 18 points along with 3 steals.
