Basketball Recap: Kelson Free's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ezekiel Academy over Southeastern Homeschool

Ezekiel Academy kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southeastern HomeSchool Cardinals. The Knights lost against the Cardinals in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 75-41 score last time.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kelson Free, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Justice Dakwa, who scored six points and five rebounds.

Southeastern HomeSchool's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Max Brutus, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards. Jackson Hooper was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Ezekiel Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-36 victory against Georgia Force Christian on the 1st. As for Southeastern HomeSchool, they have also already played their next matchup, a 77-45 win against Konos Academy on the 31st.
