Recap: Pasadena Eagles vs. Sam Rayburn Texans
If the Pasadena Eagles were feeling good off their 41-21 takedown of the Channelview Falcons last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Pasadena was dealt a 46-18 loss at the hands of Sam Rayburn on Saturday. Pasadena has not had much luck with Sam Rayburn recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Yvette Torres and Caryme Molina certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Torres scored eight points along with three steals, while Molina scored no points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Torres grabbed two or more steals.
Sam Rayburn got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Yvette Gutierrez out in front who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessiee Morales, who scored 11 points along with seven steals.
Pasadena's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 10-16. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Sam Rayburn, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-13 record this season.
Pasadena will head out on the road to square off against South Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Houston has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2. As for Sam Rayburn, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Pasadena Memorial at 7:00 p.m. Pasadena Memorial presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sam Rayburn in Texas (Pasadena Memorial is ranked 498th, while Sam Rayburn is ranked 1011th).
