Baseball Recap: Dunnellon Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dunnellon had no problem doing just that on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Citrus Hurricanes, sneaking past 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Mark Pastorella spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dunnellon is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Draven White was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Jacob Fontanez was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Dunnellon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Dunnellon has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Citrus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-16.

Looking ahead, Dunnellon will take on Vanguard at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. Citrus does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
