Basketball Recap: Denbigh Takes a Loss

Denbigh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They were beaten by the Warhill Lions 52-21. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 367th, while the Lions are ranked 177th).

D'Shela Walker was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 32 points and ten rebounds for Warhill. That makes it three consecutive games in which Walker has scored at least a third of Warhill's points. Bria McAdoo was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten steals.

Denbigh's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Warhill, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Looking ahead, Denbigh will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Bethel at 5:30 p.m. As for Warhill, they will head out on the road to challenge New Kent at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Warhill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.
