Football Recap: Johnson Takes a Loss

Johnson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 56-6 loss at the hands of the Jenkins Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Atomsmashers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Warriors are ranked 32nd).

Jeremiah Cooper threw for 129 yards and one TD. Jamauri Johnson was his top target, picking up 85 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Jamal Chaplin rushed for 60 yards.

Johnson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Jenkins, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

Johnson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jenkins, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Whitewater at 7:30 p.m. on the 14th. The Wildcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
