Volleyball Recap: Ridgefield Takes a Loss

Ridgefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Staples Wreckers, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered against the Wreckers since May 10, 2021.

While Ridgefield ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-18, 25-17.

Their offense was headlined by Will McKerracher and John Santos, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Adam Swiergosz and his 22 assists. Finally, Finn Baudendistel kept Ridgefield's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Ridgefield's record now sits at 6-9. As for Staples, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Ridgefield will challenge rival Westhill at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Staples is set to face off against their familiar foe Greenwich at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
