Football Game Preview: Richardson Eagles vs. MacArthur Cardinals

The Richardson Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the MacArthur Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Richardson will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Friday, Richardson needed a bit of extra time to put away Lake Highlands. They managed a 21-15 victory over the Wildcats.

A big part of Richardson's win came down to the chemistry between Lucas Sawyer and his top target Jayden Hernandez. Sawyer threw for 233 yards and one touchdown while Hernandez picked up 150 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for MacArthur, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They really took it to Irving for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-10 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won eight in a row.

Richardson's record is now 6-3. As for MacArthur, their record now sits at 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Richardson against MacArthur in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 37-7 victory. In that matchup, the Eagles amassed a halftime lead of 30-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
