Baseball Recap: Deweyville Takes a Loss

Deweyville lost against Danbury last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pirates came up short against the Panthers, falling 16-6. The Pirates' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Slade Gunter made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Hagen Lee, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Deweyville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Danbury, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deweyville will head out to square off against Leggett at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Danbury, they will venture away from home to face off against Brazos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
