Football Game Preview: Winnacunnet Warriors vs. Portsmouth/Oyster River

The Winnacunnet Warriors will head out on the road to challenge Portsmouth/Oyster River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Winnacunnet has four straight victories, Portsmouth/Oyster River has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Winnacunnet is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Hampshire's top teams: Exeter, who was ranked eighth at the time (Winnacunnet was ranked 21st). The Warriors walked away with a 31-21 win over the Blue Hawks on Saturday. The Warriors' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth/Oyster River lost to Manchester Central on the road by a 49-35 margin on Friday.

Winnacunnet's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Portsmouth/Oyster River, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Winnacunnet beat Portsmouth/Oyster River 30-20 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
