Recap: Channelview Falcons vs. Deer Park Deer
The Channelview Falcons pushed their score all the way to 39 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Deer Park at home by a decisive 56-39 margin. While losing is never fun, Channelview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 548th, while Deer Park is ranked 64th).
Despite the loss, Channelview still got an impressive performance from Tyrone Scyrus, who rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Scyrus' longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Traveon Jackson was another key contributor, rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Channelview has fallen quite a ways from their 8-3 record last season and are now at 3-5. As for Deer Park, their victory was their 11th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-1.
Channelview will take on Pasadena at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pasadena is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Deer Park, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Sam Rayburn at 7:00 p.m. Sam Rayburn is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
