Greenhills got themselves on the board against Huron on Saturday, but Huron never followed suit. They blew past the River Rats 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Gryphons, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Talen Pilz was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Kade Mason was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Fran Love, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Greenhills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Huron only posted an OBP of .176.
The victory made it two in a row for Greenhills and bumps their season record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Huron, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6-1.
