Basketball Game Preview: Jamestown Eagles vs. Bruton Panthers

The Jamestown Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Bruton Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jamestown is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 67-32, which was the final score in Jamestown's tilt against Warwick back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Bruton was fully in charge on Wednesday, breezing past York 61-24. That 37 point margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

Jamestown better focus on containing Johnathan Hopkins and Brandon Freeman as the pair were huge in Bruton's win. Hopkins went 8 for 10 on his way to 18 points, while Freeman posted ten points in addition to eight assists and five steals. That's the most points Hopkins has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Lapastora, who had eight points and four steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Bruton and bumps their season record up to 5-4. As for Jamestown, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Jamestown was dealt a bruising 80-52 loss at the hands of Bruton in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Freeman, who went 8 of 11 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds.
