Gatewood and Edmund Burke Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2020, but not for long. The Gators will square off against the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Gatewood is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Briarwood Academy just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 23-14 to the Buccaneers.

Meanwhile, Edmund Burke Academy never let their opponents score on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Augusta Prep 35-0. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won five games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Gatewood's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-5. As for Edmund Burke Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Gatewood suffered a grim 35-13 defeat to Edmund Burke Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Gators, Owen Redd (who rushed for 185 yards and three scores, and also picked up 41 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
