Basketball Game Preview: McNair Mustangs vs. Drew

The McNair Mustangs will take on Drew at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Last Friday, McNair was beaten by Southwest Atlanta Christian 63-30. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 444th, while the Warriors are ranked 78th).

Meanwhile, Drew hadn't done well against Forest Park recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Drew blew past Forest Park, posting a 50-5 win. Drew has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

Drew's win came from a few key players McNair will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zy'Naizaha Mitchell, who posted 16 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Kryistina Boyd was another key player, putting up 12 points.

McNair has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Drew, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7.

McNair took a serious blow against Drew when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 45-15. Can McNair avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
