Soccer Game Preview: Live Oak vs. Gridley

Live Oak is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will square off against the Gridley Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m.

Live Oak is looking to tack another W on to their season record, something they couldn't quite do against Hamilton on Thursday. Neither the Lions nor the Braves could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gridley). Everything went their way against University Prep on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-0 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Gridley's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 85th, while University Prep are ranked 978th).

The victory made it two in a row for Gridley and bumps their season record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those two matchups. Live Oak's draw makes their record 7-5-1 this season.

Live Oak couldn't quite get it done against Gridley in their previous meeting back in February of 2025 as they fell 2-0. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
