Basketball Recap: Samueli Academy Triumphs

Samueli Academy fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 49-48 W against the Bolsa Grande Matadors.

Among those leading the charge was Gabe Gonzalez, who posted 20 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Zendejas, who put up 11 points.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-8. As for Bolsa Grande, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

Samueli Academy and Savanna will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bolsa Grande, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Estancia at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Matadors will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.
