Basketball Recap: Myah Dickerson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Wharton

Lemon Bay had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wharton Wildcats on Saturday, sneaking past 53-50.

Lemon Bay's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Myah Dickerson led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Dickerson has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Maya Collins was another key player, putting up 21 points and five steals.

Wharton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sydney Hurst, who posted 14 points along with eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaytee Tyler, who put up 12 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

The win got Lemon Bay back to even at 4-4. As for Wharton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Lemon Bay wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-41 defeat against Heritage on the 30th. As for Wharton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-46 loss against Bell Creek Academy on the 30th.
