Baseball Recap: Sweet Home Takes a Loss

Sweet Home was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Newport Cubs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Huskies have suffered against the Cubs since May 10, 2023.

Sweet Home's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Newport, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Coming up, Sweet Home is taking a road trip to square off against North Marion at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Sweet Home is facing North Marion at the right time seeing as North Marion is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Newport, they will welcome Philomath at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cubs are on a five-game streak of home wins, the Warriors a five-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
