Softball Recap: Lafayette Comes Up Short

Lafayette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 8-2 to the Chiefland Indians. The match marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Khloe Crotts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered eight runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ella McAdams was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Kambry Moseley also deserves some recognition as she stole her first stolen bases of the season.

Lafayette now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Chiefland, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Coincidentally, Lafayette and Chiefland will both be playing Taylor County the next time they take the field. Chiefland will head out to face Taylor County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Lafayette will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
