Softball Game Preview: Ramona Rams vs. Patriot Warriors

Ramona has won eight straight games at home, while Patriot has won eight straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Rams will host the Warriors at 3:15 p.m. Ramona's pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so Patriot's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Ramona is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering King just ended the team's 13-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves. Having soared to a lofty 23 runs in the game before, the Rams couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Patriot made easy work of Jurupa Valley on Thursday and carried off a 10-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Dalia Islas looked comfortable as she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Payton Maynard, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Ava Montoya was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Patriot lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jurupa Valley didn't launched any home runs.

Patriot is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Ramona, their loss dropped their record down to 17-6.

Ramona was able to grind out a solid victory over Patriot when the teams last played back in April, winning 7-2. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
