Baseball Recap: Belton-Honea Path Drops Highest Score of Season Against Dixie

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Belton-Honea Path). Everything went their way against the Dixie Hornets on Monday as they made off with a 12-2 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Bears sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Madox Vipperman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colby Bates, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jakari Anderson, who earned three runs and one stolen base.

Belton-Honea Path always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Belton-Honea Path pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Dixie, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-6.

Looking ahead, Belton-Honea Path will be playing at home against Easley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dixie, they will challenge Ninety Six at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
