Baseball Game Preview: Hart Hawks vs. Castaic Coyotes

The Hart Hawks will face off against the Castaic Coyotes at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Hart barely beat Valencia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 8-2 victory on Monday. Considering the Hawks have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Castaic not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 19th. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Dos Pueblos. With that win, the Coyotes brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Jayden Broderick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Castaic let Travis Van Ness and Jakob Kerr run wild. Van Ness scored a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Kerr scored a run while going 2-for-4. Van Ness also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Castaic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dos Pueblos only posted an OBP of .296.

Hart has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Castaic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7.

Hart beat Castaic 7-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Coyotes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
