Basketball Game Preview: Vermilion Sailors vs. Firelands Falcons

The Vermilion Sailors will venture away from home to challenge the Firelands Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Vermilion is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Clyde on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Vermilion lost 50-30 to Clyde. The Sailors haven't had much luck with the Fliers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Firelands' found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Lorain on Wednesday. Firelands took down Wellington 45-29.

Firelands has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Vermilion, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Vermilion came up short against Firelands when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 46-36. Can Vermilion avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
