Volleyball Recap: American Fork Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Bingham

On Thursday, American Fork faced Bingham in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The American Fork Cavemen came up short against the Bingham Miners, falling 3-0. The Cavemen's defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

While American Fork was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-22, 27-25.

Maxim Hale paced American Fork's offense, picking up 12 kills. Hale got some help from Jarett Santiago and his 22 assists. Santiago and Hale were also some pesky defenders, as each blocked two attacks.

Bingham was led to victory by Spencer Smith and Seth Bushell. Smith had 23 digs and one assist, while Bushell had 17 assists. That's the most digs Smith has posted since back in April of 2024.

American Fork now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Bingham, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.

American Fork has already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Springville on the 14th. As for Bingham, they will take on Mountain Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on March 20th.
