Basketball Game Preview: Teays Valley Vikings vs. Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs

The Teays Valley Vikings will head out to face off against the Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Teays Valley is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Teays Valley lost to Newark at home by a 50-33 margin. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 418th, while the Wildcats are ranked 80th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bloom-Carroll, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 53-21 blowout they got against Chillicothe. The contest marked the Bulldogs' most dominant win of the season so far.

Teays Valley better keep an eye on Whitney Passen. She was instrumental in Bloom-Carroll's win, going 6 for 12 on her way to 17 points. Tessa Brooks was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Bloom-Carroll was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Teays Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Bloom-Carroll, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Teays Valley came up short against Bloom-Carroll in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 63-58. Thankfully for Teays Valley, Emily Bratton (who went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on her way to 42 points in addition to seven boards and six assists) won't be suiting up this time.
