There's no place like home for Santa Maria, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They blew past the Monte Alto Blue Devil, posting a 60-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Blue Devil: they've now won six in a row.

Santa Maria was led to victory by Daniel Martinez and Miguel Alaniz. Martinez gained 153 total yards and five touchdowns, while Alaniz threw for 101 yards and two TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Alaniz a new career-high in passer rating (165.2). Another big playmaker for Santa Maria was Luis Otero, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Santa Maria's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Monte Alto's QB won't forget Chris Oviedo anytime soon given he sacked him three times.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Otero, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

The win got Santa Maria back to even at 1-1. As for Monte Alto, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Maria will venture away from home to take on Woodsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Monte Alto, they will head out to face off against La Villa at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
