Basketball Game Preview: Southwood Knights vs. Maconaquah Braves

Two dominant forwards in Bryce Wilcox and Josiah Ball are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Southwood Knights will head out on the road to take on the Maconaquah Braves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Southwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They snuck past North Miami with a 67-63 win on Saturday.

It was another big night for Wilcox, who dropped a double-double with 36 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Emery Liddick, who posted 12 points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Maconaquah was able to grind out a solid victory over Carroll on Tuesday, taking the game 77-68. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Braves.

Maconaquah pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.5 points over those games. As for Southwood, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Southwood came up short against Maconaquah when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 77-67. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ball, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and ten boards.
