Baseball Game Preview: Winona Hawks vs. Byron Bears

The Winona Hawks are taking a road trip to take on the Byron Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Winona and Austin meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Hawks put the hurt on the Packers with a sharp 10-2 victory. The game was the first time the Hawks have beaten the Packers on their field since April 15, 2023.

Meanwhile, Byron posted their closest win since April 20th on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Faribault 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won six in a row.

Winona's record is now 7-11. As for Byron, their record now sits at 13-10.

Winona came up short against Byron in their previous meeting on Saturday, falling 5-2. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
