Softball Recap: Washington's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Washington dropped their record down to 14-2 on Monday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Dunlap Eagles, falling 7-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

As for Dunlap, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games.

For Dunlap's part, Sutton Centoni was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Centoni has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madilynn Ramos, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since April 5th. Madeline Ziller was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Washington wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-3 win against Lincoln on the 28th. As for Dunlap, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Metamora on the 29th.
