Basketball Recap: Waterloo Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Waterloo and Brilliant squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Waterloo had to settle for second. They came up short against the Brilliant Tigers, falling 60-35. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.

Leading Brilliant to victory were Hadlee Sanderson and Macy Moore. Sanderson dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Moore almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Moore has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Omary, who put up nine points.

Waterloo's defeat dropped their record down to 23-6. As for Brilliant, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-11 record this season.

Waterloo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brilliant, they will take on Lynn at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
