Northern Highlands moved up to 42 from 90 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Big North - Colonial. The Highlanders were able to move up by beating Paramus 21-13.
Wayne Valley took down Passaic 40-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Billy Crank threw for 204 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 20 yards in the win.
He went 14-20 with 0 interception.
Tyler Smith provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Spartans fell to Northern Highlands. He completed 13 passes for 165 yards and also ran for 92 yards. Smith's key target this week was Michael Mimmo, who caught 6 passes for 86 yards.
Rob Hinchen was the best running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 121 yards as Chris Locurto's team lost to Chris Locurto's team. Teammate Brandon Latierno added to the ground attack by rushing for 94 yards.
5-foot-8 quarterback Smith of Dan Sabella's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 570. He has also thrown 4 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Mohamed Beretey. The Teaneck star has 12 catches for 267 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Teaneck takes on the Spartans. The Highwaymen are in fifth place, while Paramus is in fourth place.
Wayne Hills led Big North - Colonial in scoring this week by notching 44 points on Tenafly. Justin DeGroat threw for 78 yards and ran for 88 yards during the win.
