Baseball Game Preview: Dawson-Bryant Hornets vs. Fairview Eagles

The Dawson-Bryant Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Fairview Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairview took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Dawson-Bryant, who comes in off a win.

Dawson-Bryant came out on top against South Gallia on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Hornets put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 14-4 victory. The Hornets have beaten the Rebels the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rebels has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Fairview was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to Green.

Jeffery Everetts made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. He has become a key player for Fairview: the team is 7-3 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-10 otherwise.

Dawson-Bryant's win bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Fairview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season.

Dawson-Bryant might still be hurting after the 16-6 defeat they got from Fairview in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
