Football Game Preview: Clemens Buffaloes vs. Judson Rockets

The Clemens Buffaloes will square off against the Judson Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clemens will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Clemens had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 22-point drubbing they dealt East Central on Friday. The Buffaloes put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 28-6 victory. The game was the first time the Buffaloes have beaten the Hornets on their field since October 26, 2018.

A big part of Clemens' win came down to the chemistry between Carter Mencke and his top target Trey Burton. Mencke threw for 234 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes while Burton picked up 149 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, Mencke racked up 156.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 36 points the game before, Judson was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell 17-10 to Johnson. While the Rockets had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Jaguars 7-3.

Judson has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Clemens, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
