Softball Recap: Seven Straight Home Victories for St. Joseph Central

There's no place like home for St. Joseph Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Van Bulldogs on Wednesday. The Irish haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Kate Oxley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Joseph Central let Alaina Day and Brooklyn Anderson run wild. Day went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Anderson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played.

St. Joseph Central's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.7 runs. As for Van, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 16 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-25 record this season.

St. Joseph Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-4 win against Tolsia on the 8th. Van does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
