Basketball Game Preview: Riverview Pirates vs. Grosse Ile Red Devils + How To Watch

Riverview is a perfect 10-0 against Grosse Ile since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Pirates will be home for the holidays to greet the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Riverview will be strutting in after a victory while Grosse Ile will be coming in after a loss.

Riverview was handed a 32-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 55-54 win over Westfield Prep. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their 20-point performance the game before.

Riverview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caiya Hunter, who shot 53% from the field on her way to 17 points along with eight boards and three steals. Those eight rebounds gave Hunter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ellie Ortiz, who posted 13 points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, Grosse Ile was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Summerfield, falling 49-29.

The victory got Riverview back to even at 1-1. As for Grosse Ile, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything came up roses for Riverview against Grosse Ile in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 55-25 win. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
