Basketball Recap: Leland Comes Up Short

Leland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 76-51 to the Hinckley-Big Rock Royals. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-19.

Despite the loss, Leland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Declan Brennan en route to 16 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Brennan a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Todd, who posted 14 points.

Leland's defeat dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Hinckley-Big Rock, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-8.

Leland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-52 victory against Henry-Senachwine on the 17th. As for Hinckley-Big Rock, they have also already played their next match, a 67-43 win against Marquette on the 15th.
