Basketball Recap: Sahuaro's Loss Ends 18-Game Winning Streak at Home

Sahuaro entered their game against Salpointe Catholic on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Sahuaro Cougars were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 63-62 to the Salpointe Catholic Lancers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cougars came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Lancers are ranked 74th).

Sahuaro's loss ended an 18-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-2. As for Salpointe Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sahuaro has already played their next game (against Mica Mountain), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Salpointe Catholic will venture away from home to square off against Walden Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
