Basketball Recap: McKinley Red Dragons vs. South Range Raiders

The McKinley Red Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 70-47 walloping at the hands of South Range. While losing is never fun, McKinley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 712th, while the Raiders are ranked 199th).

When it comes to explaining why McKinley lost, one person who can't be blamed is True Carey-Hardin. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carey-Hardin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Antuan Gardner, who scored seven points along with three steals.

McKinley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for South Range, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

McKinley will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. Girard is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. As for South Range, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Fighting Irish at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Ursuline has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 504 points over their last seven contests.
