Football Preview: Moran Bulldogs vs. Trent Gorillas
The Moran Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Trent Gorillas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Moran is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, Moran took a blow against Rotan, falling 64-14. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-14.
Although Moran took the loss, they still got scores from Ellis Hise and Zaykk Sandefer.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trent). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Lueders-Avoca 54-8 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 26-0.
It was another big night for Michael Wallis, who rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries, and also picked up 40 receiving yards and a touchdown. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 101.8 rushing yards per game.
Trent wouldn't let Lueders-Avoca keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force four fumbles. Wallis led the group effort, picking up two of those forced fumbles all by himself.
Moran's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Trent, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Everything came up roses for Moran against Trent in their previous matchup back in November of 2019, as the squad secured a 57-12 victory. Does Moran have another victory up their sleeve, or will Trent turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
