Softball Recap: Dunedin Comes Up Short

After flying high against Clearwater Central Catholic last Tuesday, Dunedin came back down to earth. The Falcons fell just short of the East Lake Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 16-2 to the Eagles when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lyla Griffey was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Dunedin's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for East Lake, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dunedin will challenge Clearwater at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tornadoes have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for East Lake, they will take on Newsome at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Eagles have won four straight at home, while the Wolves won eight straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
