Softball Game Preview: West Bridgewater Wildcats vs. Apponequet Regional Lakers

West Bridgewater has won four straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Apponequet Regional has won four straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Wildcats will welcome the Lakers at 10:00 a.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Things were looking good for West Bridgewater after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of South Shore Vo-Tech by a score of 13-12. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Vikings 5-0 in the first period.

West Bridgewater saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alanna Fidalgo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base. Fidalgo has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Another was Haylee Krakowski, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, Apponequet Regional never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Bourne as they made off with a 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lakers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

West Bridgewater's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Apponequet Regional, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

West Bridgewater might still be hurting after the 18-2 defeat they got from Apponequet Regional in their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
