Basketball Recap: Heritage Comes Up Short

Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 62-34 defeat at the hands of the Chaparral Wolverines. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 59-30 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Heritage still got an impressive performance from Skylar Peterson, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds.

It was another big night for Lauren Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards for Chaparral. Thompson is becoming a predictor of Chaparral's success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is undefeated (and 5-8 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Salem Sherman, who had 12 points.

Heritage's record now sits at 3-14. As for Chaparral, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-8.

Heritage didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-46 win against Silver Creek on the 8th. As for Chaparral, they will face off against Castle View at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chaparral is facing Castle View at the right time seeing as Castle View is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
