Softball Recap: Loveland Beats Winton Woods for Their Third Straight Victory

17 must be Loveland's lucky number: they beat Winton Woods with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Warriors. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Rylee Ripperger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Ripperger was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Loveland got a massive performance out of Payton Brown, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave Brown a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Summer Rohlfs, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple.

Loveland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. They are 6-3 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory was the third in a row for Loveland, bringing their record up to 9-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Winton Woods, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Loveland and Winton Woods could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Tigers (ranked 363rd) will meet Milford (ranked 159th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Winton Woods will challenge Little Miami at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (467 vs. 116).
