Softball Recap: West Washington Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

West Washington came out on top against Bloomington South on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Senators walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Panthers. For the Senators, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Emery Haub made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macy Lowery, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Meredith Deaton was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

West Washington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 11 consecutive matchups.

West Washington's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Bloomington South, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-7.

Coming up, West Washington will take on Avon in a tournament on Saturday. As for Bloomington South, they will square off against Terre Haute North Vigo at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
