Baseball Recap: Singer Comes Up Short

Singer fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Simpson on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 8-7. The Hornets just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Jasper Stephens spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Kaiden Richard made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Bell, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Singer's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10-1. As for Simpson, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-10-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Singer will welcome Elizabeth at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Simpson, they will challenge Grace Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
