Recap: West Nassau Warriors vs. Baker County Wildcats

The West Nassau Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 50-28 walloping at the hands of Baker County. While losing is never fun, West Nassau can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 499th, while Baker County is ranked 204th).

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emma Everett, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Everett has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Abagail Bailey, who scored seven points.

Baker County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Yamise Haygood, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Haygood has scored at least 25% of Baker County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaniah Blake, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks.

West Nassau's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Baker County, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

West Nassau will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Trinity Christian Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Baker County, they will head out on the road to face off against Westside at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Westside is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
