The Atlantic Christian Cougars will square off against The Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
The Christian Academy will be up against a hot Atlantic Christian squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went the Cougars' way against Gloucester County Christian on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-4 victory. That looming 16-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Atlantic Christian got a massive performance out of Taylor Sutton, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Those six RBI gave Sutton a new career-high. Isabelle Alford was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Atlantic Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask The Christian Academy). They blew past The Pilgrim Academy 22-8 on Thursday. With that win, The Christian Academy brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Avery Burghart made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Tori Townsend was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maeve Gibbons, who went 4-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
The victory made it two in a row for The Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 5-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Atlantic Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
The Christian Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Atlantic Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. It's a different story for The Christian Academy, though, as they've only averaged .255. Will they be able to contain Atlantic Christian's hitters?
