Softball Recap: Huckabay Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Huckabay's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Strawn Greyhounds by a score of 6-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 last Tuesday.

Taylor Sharp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Huckabay let Izzie Ketchum and Kaci Hatfield run wild. Ketchum went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Hatfield went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Anderson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Huckabay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Huckabay is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Strawn, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Huckabay is set to challenge their familiar foe Lipan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Strawn will take on rival Graford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
